Is the bike path still happening?

Jessica,

Maybe your right. I think a sit in is more effective than mob riding.

Every day another death and/or serious injury to peds and cyclists- saddened to read about the one last night of a pedestrian in her 30's being fatally hit by a metro bus at temple and spring. A sit in? A protest of somehow - safety safety safety - vision zero for la is needed. http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/lanow/2009/05/pedestrian-run-over-by-bus-near-los-angeles-city-hall.html

Bike path! Bike path! Bike path!

Great news that this is definitely going to happen. There will be certain problem areas along the path, I'm sure, but those are largely unavoidable.

The problem you mention regarding people without easy access to a bike path in the center and thus the need to bike the wrong direction for a short distance are pretty common throughout the city, but are really not a big deal. The right thing for students coming from the West to do is not to bike the wrong way on Exposition, but to bike 300 ft to the north of exposition to use W 37th Dr. This is a quiet residential street that should be great for cyclists, and will lead them right to Foshay.

Amazing how we need to beg, plead and lobby for a measly slab of concrete for a bike path and a few extra racks here in L.A. when they get showers in Chicago!

It's unlikely to make any difference on the Expo corridor, but the Green L.A. Transportation Work Group is looking at a campaign to work with various stakeholders to pass a Complete Streets policy for the city of Los Angeles. You can read about, get involved with, and comment on our nascent campaign here:
