There's still plenty of people biking (to work or elsewhere) even if they didn't show up to any of the designated areas. I bike everyday. To me it was just another day. I went to work. I was ecstatic that the number of riders I encountered was three-to four-times the norm -- until I realized what a pathetically low number I was celebrating. But I'll keep dreaming of the day it's five or ten times that amount. If that's not optimism I don't know what is. Maybe it’s semantix, but I see my point of view more as realistic than pessimistic.
