Today’s Headlines

  • While no change to the makeup of the Metro Board is likely, I’d expand it by two to 15 and appoint one north county member and one designated Long Beach member.

  • It sounds like the subway project would be built in five stages:

    1) from Wilshire/Western on Wilshire to Fairfax (perhaps with no Crenshaw station at this time);

    2) from Wilshire/Fairfax to Century City;

    3) from Century City to West L.A.

    4) Hollywood/Highland via Santa Monica and La Cienega to Purple Line

    5) West L.A. to the ocean.

    Fair enough. Sounds right.

  • I suggest the Century City stop be built right in the heart of Century City at Avenue of the Stars & Constellation if at all possible. I will create a pedestrian focal point to the area. A stop on Santa Monica and Ave. of the Stars wouldn’t be as pedestrian friendly as it borders a golf course as wouldn’t have pedestrian access on all sides of it.

    I’d build the Santa Monica La Cienega or San Vicente station half way in between which would allow more people to access it, possible under the current Metro sub-headquaters.
