Make auto drivers pay the real cost of their auto use. I would have liked the city to just implement steeper metered parking but why go through all of the red tape, neighborhood opposition, environmental injustice suits when you can just excuse yourself from greedy auto drivers(who want parking free and cheap) and let the blame fall on even greedier corporations?

"Better Bus Rapid Transit" ???

I counted four oxy-morons in that statement.

While we can debate the merits of paid versus free parking and the rates therefore, I don't think any here see this as other than a money grab by today's office-holders, which we all pay for in perpetuity, until someone proposes to buy them back at a hefty premium, financed by the taxpayers.

This is what you get with one-party rule. Pols who do not fear the public, do as they please, for themselves. I hope y'all are happy.

Robin Chase, the founder of Zipcar, had some interesting things to say about this handover of taxpayer money and power to a consortium of unaccountable corporations:

This is a great idea, if, and only if, you anticipate a long-term decline in driving and parking. If your city expects to move away from the automobile, how could you make a better deal than scamming some private firm into paying you for the next 75-years of a shrinking revenue stream?
