		<description>Isn&#039;t it obvious why fewer people are driving? We&#039;ve added more lane-miles of road and that has reduced congestion!

You see, those lane-miles added have prevented investment in transportation options that would have insulated our economy from the global credit crisis and fluctuating energy costs.

Without our investment in car-only infrastructure, we might have been able to (regionally, at least) skip over many of the effects of the current economic crisis. Fortunately, with the gains we&#039;ve made in highway capacity, our economic decline (and our Vehicle Miles Traveled) are pegged to one another in their downward descent!

Brilliant, isn&#039;t it?</description>
