I thought and still think seeing the new commercials where Jack wakes up that it all was done in bad taste. Jack in the Box commercials are usually very funny and this wasn't funny or even interesting for an ad campaign.

I have been hit by many cars since its my job to test it out but that was a very wierd crash. In my opinion if he was truly hit by the bus either 2 things would happen. 1) He will get hit and go flying and possibly die from it or be paralyzed for a very long time. Or 2) He would have died on impact as well as had his intire head crushed by the force of that blow. I like Jack in the Box but I dont think this will make me get more food there.

yeah, from a girl whose husband suffered severe head trauma due to a freak accident, was in a coma for a week, then passed away, this ad campaign is horrible. just yesterday i heard a jack in the box commercial where the voice over chick was "crying". it made my stomach turn. i don't want to hate jack in the box cause their oreo shakes and southern chicken biscuit make a great meal. so hopefully they'll turn this stupidity into something positive.

I heard that the actor who plays Jack had a quadruple bypass and this ad is a cover for what really happened to the actor. One would think that they could just find any person with the same physical features to play the role and the cover up would not be necessary, but that's the rumor that I've seen flying around.

Okay, I don't know why everyone is criticizing the person who wrote this blog.

I am a little offended that they turned "getting hit by a bus" into a joke. But that isn't what mainly bothers me.

What actually bothers me, is that their advertising is so cheap. They know they can play on people's curiosity and emotions by posting signs outside their drive-through windows, making it sound real so people will visit the website. They do this so they can get people to go on the website, and then order their food "to support jack." Cheap.

LOL- it strikes me as so desperate. Jack in the Box is losing to the other fast-food chains, that's why.

The advertising attempt is just really a turn-off to me. I am boycotting Jack in the Box, lol, cuz I just think that is so stupid to have such low-down advertising.

All the people criticizing the person who wrote this blog, are the people who work in the corporation and are assigned to post on the internet, among the people who were assigned to make a Youtube account and post that fake cell-phone video and fake blog.

So let's get some things clear:

-Cheap advertising playing on people's curiosity and emotions. A turn off.

-Offends some people who have, or know someone who has been in these sort of accidents.

Mistake. They think they are being brilliant, but they aren't. It's just bad taste in my opinion. lol.

I know a good example what I can compare this to.

Remember how in the 1950s doctors sold cigarettes and said they were healthy and everyone believed them or how a TV personality and blatantly sell a product and we would look at that and go, "Wow, those people are stupid, they believed that? They thought that was funny?"

Now I see how that has happened. For the first time since the 1960 when the American public first got hip and was not able to be so easily manipulated I can say with all confidence that Madison Avenue has caught up with the average American and is able to manipulate them relatively easily. And it is really shocking to me. It's really shocking how easy it is to get people to think you're one of them and to get them to defend you for free.

We're defending and advertising for corporations for free now, that's a pretty amazing thing.

Corporations are paying us less, screwing us more and we're more loyal to brands and corporations than ever before, we'll even flame other people online to defend the rights of the corporation.

"Yes, EXCEPT that rich people help pay my salary, as well as yours..."

My point is that people who are trying to compare this to some random guy, to not do that, because this isn't a random guy. This isn't about art or satire this is about product and the "you're being too sensitive" argument, that's supposed to imply that I should be happy that corporate America views me worthy enough to exploit and thinks I'm stupid enough to fall for it, it just puzzles me that's all.

To me people have totally forgotten what progressive means, it doesn't mean standing up for the rights of corporate American to sell you crap. The fact that it has come to this is sad and pathetic.

I understand we can't totally divorce ourselves from the machine and capitalism, but can we at least think. Can we at least not fall for it when corporations and corporate like people try to be hip and street, because that is what this is.

It's like your teacher figuring out the latest (or late in their definition) slang terms and using it to relate to you and maybe I'm old, but back in the 90s once your parents or teachers did something that meant it wasn't cool or funny anymore, time to change to a new version of funny if Jack in the Box has figured out what "funny" is.

Yes, EXCEPT that rich people help pay my salary, as well as yours. Unless we want to have a socialist revolution, companies are going to market to people. No, the Jack In the Box ad is not some high class art, but it works to get folks into the restaurant. Now let me put on my Corporate Shill Hat (tm) and direct all of you to a free box Jack in the Box fries Tuesday at http://coupon.hangintherejack.com/seasoned-curly-fries.php . If you want to express your outrage at the ad, print out as many of these coupons as you can, claim your free fries, and either eat them or give them to homeless people.

You know clever ads by corporate assholes are not funny. I get the funny part of this ad and if some person in their college dorm had made this commercial it would be funny. If Alan Abel did this ad it would be funny. If Monty Python had did this it would be funny.

My problem with the ad has nothing to do with the content of the ad. It is the fact that the average person has gotten so freakin stupid that they will laugh and be tools for some stupid corporate machine and fall for all kinds of crap that is contrived. Even the fact that some people are getting outraged by this is bothering me, because the outrage in my opinion is for the wrong reason.

I am not so self-righteous that I can't take a joke, but this isn't a joke it's a freakin commercial done by people who want to sell a crappy product.

And whatever to people saying they are not trolls, the fact that you keep focusing on that part of my comment and then pulling in the hysteria part of others when me being the only person who said that and said nothing about it being outrageous because of the ad content itself shows that you are sophisticated trolls and if you are a college student, you're just the type corporate asshole types like to pay $1.95 a week to spread this type of nonsense.

I hope they are paying you well.

It makes me sad all of these bloggers that get sent press releases and then go on to write noncritical reviews of events for FREE for a coupon to Denny's and some free swag that's on the level of a metal eco water bottle.

You know when people send you press releases send them a rate sheet for your blog, make these rich pr jerks buy ad space on your blog and if not don't go in there and write flowerly little pre-event posting and nice post event postings. Be critical, I mean jesus christ the blogoshere has turned into freakin Disneyland and no one even got paid, sad, sad, sad...

The blogosphere needs to smarten up. There is nothing honorable or progressive about being a tool for a corporation. There is nothing progressive about standing up for the "rights" of corporations that have literally bankrupted and destroyed this country and the average person in this country’s life.

Corporations aren't people. This isn't Lenny Bruce, this doesn't have some artistic merit that needs fighting for, the fact that some comments are actually coached in those terms is laughable to me.

Screw rich people. Screw corporations. Screw dumbass people who think that this is about freedom of speech. The blogosphere is becoming the electronic version of Idiocracy.

Actually, Jack in the Box stock (JBX) went up 4.5% over the past week, so I doubt any heads are going to roll here.
