		<description>I always thought the hype about Obama rang a bit hollow when it came to transportation. He liked to talk about &quot;green&quot; cars and his rhetoric led me to believe that he felt there was nothing for an American president to do but continue to prop up and support suburban homeownership and the car culture.

A lot of Americans will perhaps never accept that their suburban way of life is a horrible mis-allocation of resources, and prepare for real change. I think that circumstance alone will force change on Americans. Unfortunately, that type of change will come at a high price.

Obama could prepare us for it now, but it looks like the highway dudes will continue to hold sway in D.C.

So sad.</description>
