Speaking of "shovel ready" - anyone seen a copy of the 1997/2002 L.A. Bike Plan anywhere?

I'd hate for that to be left out (again!) for the 1,000,000th time in a funding go-round.

It is a pretty pricey plan, all $60 million of it. That comes to, what, the cities photocopying budget for the year?

For all the talk about "shovel-ready" projects, don't forget that completing engineering designs and environmental studies also employes people to provide immediate economic stimulous.

Now's our chance! I hope Metro and the City get their best spinners to provide an excellent presentation to the federal government. These big federal infrastructure investments come along a couple times every 100 years or so. Let's make this one count.

They might have forgotten one thing:

Dear Santa,

Please tell Barack Obama to give Los Angeles some bailout money to "incentivize greater bicycle and pedestrian usage of roads and sidewalks"

Measure R local returns + bailout money = expanded mass transit, bike and pedestrian infrastructure! Dreaming big here in Los Angeles!
