That essay above, from Torti Gallas and Partners, is really spot-on. I wonder how voters would feel about a candidate using that kind of rhetoric? Maybe some of our councilmen will integrate some of this type of thinking into their &quot;smart planning&quot; speeches they like to give at neighborhood meetings.

Removing parking spots is a politically difficult thing to do, but if you can show some quick, cheap, and very positive benefits to removing parking - it is a politicians dream. You can improve a local area with almost no real work - just send a work crew out to paint-out a stall and put in some cheapie bike racks or rubber cones glued to the ground or cheapie xeriscaping. Instant &quot;park&quot; or &quot;green street&quot;.</description>
