I was just in Seville for a month and you really hit the nail on the head about the Sevici program. It really is the most convenient way to get around the city, although I found the bikes themselves to be pretty uncomfortable. One thing it looks like you missed, however (and I missed for the first week I was using the service as well) is that if you are trying to get a bike from a station that is out or return a bike to a full station, the touch-screen at the station will show you a map with the closest stations, including how many bikes and how many free spots they have. And it even gives you an extra 15 minutes free to get there.
