Darrell's not building the project, and he's completely unaccountable for what he says since he's not building the project and not responsible for the delivery of the mitigation measures stated in the EIR, or any adverse impacts or deaths.

Great looking new skin by the way.

D, if you can't get Thorpe, I bet Darrell Clarke would be up for it. We could probably make a good debate of it and get some traditional media coverage in addition to the blogs.

Pretty much. Everyone else seems to have a side. I'd ask Steve Hymon but he seems busy.

D,

Are you just asking because I'm the only agnostic you can find on the at-grade v separated debate? :)

How can we build Expo Line mostly at-grade. This is a very poor designed light rail line. It's not the deaths I fear, it's the slowness of a line with so much potential.

Hell to the yeah.

I think grade separation is a bad idea - but the community Damien Goodmon works with needs to have its say in how things happen in its neighborhood.

Rick Thorpe was asked to debate this issue with me in a neutral forum by one of the South LA neighborhood councils. We each were to be given equal time to present then cross examine then time for audience questions.

I think I may extend the offer. Damien Newton interested in moderating?

(1) Go Kent go! Thanks for making it to the meeting and calling the MTA on their elimination of the bike trail.

(2) After reading through pages and pages of online discussion about the Expo Line, it seems clear to me that the folks who support this line's construction f**ked up.

They are supporting a good concept, and their design for the railway line looks (to my non-expert eyes) good.

Where they f**ked up is the political approach they took in South L.A. The way Expo line supporters write and talk about the Expo Line makes my ears start to ring and I start seeing Frank Wilkinson of the Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles and the "let's save these poor people" liberal imperialism of decades past.

When these idiots have to ride bikes everywhere because they can't outbid the residents of oil exporting nations who would also like to drive we'll find out just how fit they aren't. There's gonna be a lot of complaining - "oh, my back hurts, I had to ride 3 whole miles today"
