Damien -- All people need to do is get their comments to metroplan@metro.net. There is no need to copy myself or other staff.

Thanks

This is a great opportunity to shape the future of transportation in Los Angeles County. The more folks that can write to the MTA in favor of increased funding for bicycling and walking, the better.

And with that not only is advocating to Metro on the LRTP important but talking to the Regional(Westside, San Gabriel, South Bay, etc.) Council of Governments so that the cities understand the need for it and create another source of funding on top of Metro's to get these projects done and quickly so that there is an effective bicycle network.

Your testimony (linked) was great, I dare say revolutionary for here at a Metro Board meeting. One comment I had is that next time you may want to point out that with more pedestrian and bicycle traffic in an area, the local businesses and economy enjoy tremendous increase in foot traffic and revenues. That way if they are not moved by "it's the right thing to do for transportation, for the environment, for the community, perhaps they will be moved by...it will stimulate the local economy which leads to more money (and more votes for politicians). That type of thing tends to persuade officials and politicians (i.e. the people with the money, making decisions)
