Better still, get a local elected official to "edit" your piece and submit it to the paper. Even better - you get to know the editorial staff at these papers (which, thankfully, corporate control has condensed into a handful of folks). Thanks for putting in the time and submitting your letter to these guys! It would have been better if you'd addressed the publisher of all the papers instead of just the one in OC. For real effect, try and get either:

(a) Fancy letterhead
OR
(b) Someone with fancy letterhead

to write your next Press Release/Letter to the Editor about transit.
