there is some thought that Portland has raised the bar

bike portland tells the story

we have drank the kool aid
we believe

now how do we get the world to become a more bike friendly/bike-able place

bike boulevards are definitely the way to go. bike lanes, and even bike paths pale in comparison.

while we don't have the exact design here in LA, there are some quasi boulevards that are an absolute dream to ride.

the great thing about bike infrastructure is that it costs so much less than other modal designs, but can have lasting effects.

not to mention, bike lanes, boulevards & paths don't bifurcate/destroy neighborhoods like road widening and freeways.
