I was sad I wasn't able to make it out to this event. I ride the Gold Line into Pasadena for work and walk all around the city most days during lunch and to do many of my errands. I would say most of my experiences are in line with what was said in this post. I love the trees on Green St in the summer. Any walking near the freeways or the exits/entrances sucks. Getting stuck at the train signals trying to cross in the direction that cars are stopped from moving is annoying.

Did they mention anything about the crazy construction schedules recently? The closures are constantly changing which also makes car drivers way less aware of pedestrians and pedestrians have to walk in odd places to get around the construction. My walk from the Gold Line station to my work has been under construction to some degree since we moved into the building over a year ago.

Zane thanks for catching my error about Walnut Street, the one way street comments are about Union Street. All the other comments about Walnut apply to Walnut.I agree that a Walkabout in every community in Los Angeles County is necessary, all we need is the leadership and commitment from those communities to want to make places for people and not just cars, I think that we are ready.

Glad to see that Pasadena is under your purview! It's a minor nit... but I think the one way street you're talking about that isn't Green is actually Union, not Walnut (Union runs to the west, one block north of Colorado, while Green runs to the east, one block south of Colorado).

Wow, great report. I think every neighborhood needs to have a walkabout to asses its pedestrian friendliness. The fact that Pasadena is doing this, and it is probably one of the most walker friendly zones in the entire region, speaks volumes of the city and its residents.

Sad about that Gold Line in the middle of the freeway. Yuck.
