Does anyone else find it interesting that, in LA, the answer to pedestrian safety is to ticket pedestrians? I know it's not good to cross at the last minute, but really?

I've been nearly hit many times by drivers that just aren't paying attention. Whether I crossed near the end of the light or at the beginning didn't seem to affect my safety one iota.

How about some street parking, so pedestrians are not crossing highways, but city streets. Cars are slower and more cautious of pedestrians, instead of speeding by curbs at 50 mph.
